Dog owners, and neighbors of dogs that bark, know that it's sometimes hard to
stop barking dogs. Some people can effectively stop the behavior by yelling at it or squirting it with water. Unfortunately, these methods don't
stop barking dogs when you are away from the house. And, yelling at your dog creates more noise; it doesn't necessarily stop the behavior.
If you want to stop barking dogs, you must first understand why your dog is barking. Dogs bark for a lot of reasons, including frustration, loneliness, and separation anxiety. Anxious barking can be stopped by giving the dog a toy or bone to chew on; stop dogs with a healthy distraction. Frustrated dogs may bark because they want to chase something outside or play with another dog. It's harder to stop dogs that seem to bark just to hear themselves. You may help this by moving them to a room where they can't see whatever is frustrating them.
Although there are many non-electronic ways to stop barking behavior, they don't always work because they are dependent upon you always being around to correct the dog. One of the most efficient and reliable ways to prevent barking is to use electronic devices such as
bark collars and ultrasonic transmitters. These electronic devices
stop barking dogs both in the house and outdoors.
Electronic collars prevent barking in a safe and humane way. Collars respond to the vibrations of a dog's vocal cords when it barks. The collars
stop barking dogs by emitting a mild correction. If the dog doesn't stop barking, it will receive a second, slightly more intense correction. The corrections, which are annoying but harmless, will eventually prevent barking in all but necessary situations; you will stop dogs who bark at everything and nothing.
What if you want to eliminate noise but don't want them to receive an electronic correction? You can prevent this without causing any discomfort to your dog with a citronella collar. Dogs have a very strong sense of smell and you can stop dogs by distracting them with a strong citrus scent. Citronella collars are just as effectively as collars that provide an electronic correction. If you want to stop dogs that have low pain thresholds, the citronella collar may be right for you.
Why is a collar the right way for you to prevent barking? Electronic collars are light-weight. You can use a collar to stop barking of any size, even miniature breeds. Collars are water-resistant or water-proof. You can prevent barking dogs that live outside and may get wet.
Even with the advantages of electronic collars, they can't stop your neighbor's dog from making noise. Ultrasonic transmitters can be used up to 50 feet away. When dogs bark, the transmitter sends out a sound that only animals can hear that will stop barking. Ultrasonic transmitters work in the house as well. The indoor transmitters work in the same way as the outdoor models. They work anywhere in the house without bothering people.
Electronic collars do not have to be worn permanently. Once dogs realize why they are being corrected, they will stop the bad barking and only bark when necessary. Electronic collars work quickly and efficiently.
