This unit has a range of a half mile. The waterproof collar runs on rechargeable NiMH batteries, and the transmitter uses a replaceable 9-volt battery. The antenna on this transmitter is smaller than previous models but has a greater range. The transmitter is made of Lexan, the material used in bullet-proof items. The transmitter was designed for easy use by left or right-handed people. Buttons and toggles have been placed for easy access. The battery pack is removable.
The receiver that comes with these electronic
training collars is also made of Lexan; it is a third of the size of older models. The receiver has a removable battery pack and a battery life indicator.
The charging system that comes with this shock collar can recharge the batteries in two hours. Leaving fully charged batteries in the charger will not damage the batteries.
An accessory beeper is sold separately from this electric dog collar. The beeper can be remotely turned on or off. After setting the intensity dial, pressing any button will activate the beeper.
Using one of these devices may speed up your training. Because the dog is corrected immediately, it will learn definitively which behaviors are bad and need to be stopped. Many TriTronic training collar models are designed so the user doesn't have to look at the transmitter. If you are looking at your dog, not the transmitter, you can see bad behavior and correct it as soon as it happens, which means better training results.
